UCI IDMI and AMPSoCAL offer Additive Manufacturing (AM) / 3D Printing Certification

March 10, 2017 – The Institute for Design and Manufacturing Innovation, with support from the Advanced Manufacturing Partnership for Southern California (AMPSoCal), developed an Additive Manufacturing Certification online course, specifically targeted to executive-level participants from companies affected by defense cuts.

This 12-hour online course offers an executive level Additive Manufacturing (AM) certification based on the latest industry standards and best practices.  It will provide executives with comprehensive knowledg
e of when, where, and if AM technologies may be applied within their company to support reduced costs, add greater agility, and benefit their companies overall.

Executives completing the course will acquire an understanding of

  1. AM technologies and their associated materials
  2. Integrating AM within existing manufacturing processes
  3. Typical cost types and considerations
  4. Value stream case studies

This course is delivered in a series of narrated lectures, video demonstrations, skill building exercises, and assessments.

“We are very excited about this partnership with AMPSoCAL.  Promoting education in the emerging additive technologies is extremely timely!!” said Lorenzo Valdevit, Director of the Institute for Design and Manufacturing Innovation at UCI’s Henry Samueli School of Engineering.

If you are interested in participating in this course or know of a company that could benefit from this training, please contact Ms. Dion Jackson, AMPSoCAL Program Director at 213-821-6145 or dljackso@price.usc.edu; or Veronica Swanson, Associate Technical Director of IDMI, at swansonv@uci.edu.
