The Machine Shop and Weld Shop support researchers, student clubs and course requirements. Our highly skilled shop manager and instructor, Tyler Schuldt, is available to provide technical support to faculty and students working in the shops. Mills, lathes and welding equipment are available for use.
Machines are normally available on a walk-in basis (excluding in-session class instruction) but is is recommended to email your request for availability. The Machine Shop is generally stocked with tools in Imperial units including various taps of generic sizes.

Haas Minimill 2
Primarily an aluminum cutting machine but can handle other metals. Maximum part capability: 18″ L x 9″ W x 6″ H
Trak Lathe Machine TRL 1440EX
The look and feel of a manual lathe, but with CNC efficiency. Four machines available.
Bridgeport Knee Mill
The standard bearer for milling, boring and drilling. Five machines are available.
Vertical Band Saw
The standard bearer for milling, boring and drilling. Five machines are available.
DoALL DS-280M Dual-Miter Manual Band Saw
For cutting vertical and angular material. Allows for miter-cutting from 60° right and 45° left.
Plasma Cutter
Cuts through electrically conductive materials by means of an accelerated jet of hot plasma.

Millermatic 141 MIG
The welding shop is generally stocked with MIG wire and gas. If using the TIG you will need sto supply all the consumables and gun parts including tungsten, weld cup and filler rods. It is recommended that users supply at least 1.5 times the material intended to use. The extra material is used to dial in the welding machines and give the student ample practice before attempting on their final project
